Upcoming Event: PANDHARPUR WARI
ari (Pandharpur Wari) is a centuries-old devotional pilgrimage in Maharashtra dedicated to Lord Vitthal of Pandharpur which started around 13th century CE. It brings together lakhs of devotees called Warkaris who walk on foot in organized groups, singing abhangas and chanting “Jai Hari Vitthal” as an expression of deep devotion and community unity from Alandi to Pandharpur in Maharashtra- a distance of about 400 km!

Swar Indy feels privileged in co-organizing Pandharpur Wari 2026 – “Namacha Gajar” with HTCI as a cultural celebration of this sacred tradition in Indianapolis. The program will begin with an Abhangwani, featuring live devotional abhang singing by local artists and participants. This will be followed by a symbolic Wari walk in the temple premises, recreating the spirit of the pilgrimage and collective devotion. Please do join us for this event at HTCI on July 25th, 2026 at 4 PM. Jai Hari Vitthal 🚩

Growing up, many of us watched our mothers and grandmothers light a lamp near the Tulsi Vrindavan every morning and evening.

At the time, it seemed like a simple ritual.

Today, we understand that Tulsi symbolizes devotion, humility, and unwavering faith.

That is why Tulsi holds a special place in the Warkari tradition. Millions of Warkaris walk to Pandharpur wearing Tulsi malas, singing the name of Vitthal, and serving one another along the way.

The Wari teaches us a beautiful lesson: devotion is not measured by how much we have, but by how much we give.

As we prepare for the third annual Pandharpur Wari 2026, we invite you to join this spirit of bhakti and seva.

🟠 General Donation
Support the Wari celebration and the Hindu Temple of Central Indiana.

🟠 Food Seva Donation
Help provide water, buttermilk, and potential refreshments, continuing the cherished Warkari tradition of hospitality.

Every contribution, big or small, is like a Tulsi leaf offered at the feet of Lord Vitthal.
