About HTCI
Serving the Hindu community in Central Indiana for over two decades with a place for worship, cultural activities, and spiritual growth.
Our History
The Hindu Temple of Central Indiana (HTCI) was born from the vision of a few families in the early 1990s. Officially incorporated in 1998, the temple found its permanent home on German Church Road in 2005. The temple inauguration (Pranapratistha) was performed in 2006, marking a significant milestone for the growing Hindu community in the region.
Since then, the temple has expanded its services and facilities, becoming a vibrant hub for religious, cultural, and educational activities, serving thousands of devotees.
HTCI is the first Hindu Temple inaugurated in the state of Indiana on February 5, 2006 with a mission to serve the spiritual needs of Central Indiana’s Hindu families and represent the diversity of Hindu faith and culture.
Maha kumbhabhishekam or consecration process was performed on June 3, 2015. It is built according to the Ancient Science of Indian Architecture called “Sthapatya Vidya”. The worship hall houses 17 Sannidhis (shrines) - Ganesha, Ayyappa, Hanuman, Subrahmanya, Jagannath, Durga, Shiva, Mahavir, Saibaba, Saraswati, Venkateswara, Andal, Lakshmi, Parvati, Rama, Krishna and Navagrahas, spread over 4 different gopurams, with the main tower being over 99 feet tall.
Hindu scripture, the Rigveda says, “Ekam Sat Viprah Bahudha Vadanti”
The Truth is One, though the wise may call it by many names. (RV 1.164.46)
